*More about the keynote speaker and presentation*

The Presentation:
Regardless of one's theistic expression or position on abortion, this presentation is for those who desire to understand the central elements of the issue, with the hope to engage those in the public sphere with clarity and charity. Condensed from years of research and experience, offered for consideration is the means to address the impasse where affirming female bodily autonomy or the preservation of fetal life, is measured by one side's advancement at the expense of the other. This alternative is proposed by distilling the issue to a single premise, that either some living humans are persons, or all living humans are persons. In other words, either there are distinct markers for personhood which must be determined, or the recognition of personhood is tethered to every living human being.

The Speaker:
Stephen Bujno is an ethicist and philosopher who teaches at Villanova University and St. Joseph's College, Maine, and has taught Critical Thinking at Penn State. With graduate degrees in Philosophical Anthropology and Catholic Morality, Stephen's doctorate is in Philosophy from the Global Center for Advanced Studies, Dublin. He is also a life-long artist. His students include nursing, pre-med, biomedical engineers, priests, deacons, those seeking chaplaincy, deaconate cohorts, and doctoral candidates. Published books include Ethics of Care and Wellness: An Inquiry for Professionals, Caregivers, and Patients, along with The Ways of Love: Transforming the Person. Soon to be published is a speculative fiction entitled Apology: Love as the State of Things, which has been adopted by Angelico Press and slated for release in December 2025. Also, Moral Being: Freedom, Society, and Beauty is a blended treatise with anthology that will be available in June 2025. The completed manuscript of Autonomy, Consciousness, and Personhood: A Primer for the Public Dialogue on Abortion, which this talk is based on, is currently out for consideration. Stephen lives in SE Pennsylvania with Tina, his wife of 35 years, along with three daughters and five grandchildren who all live in very close proximity.
